My Rating: 5 Stars Fantastic story! Just wow! I'm a fan of Ms Charlaine Harris' work and read all the True Blood books but this took a completely different turn, a very good one! The story is about Harper, a young woman that is hit by lightning and, as a consequence, develops a peculiar ability: when in contact with a dead body she can see their final moments and how they died. In the second volume of this series, Harper finds two bodies in a grave and together with her best friend, Tolliver, they set out to find the killer that as being free for far too long. I'll start by saying that I really liked the drawings of this graphic novel. I think the colours and the style really match the story and the characters. Secondly, the storyline is very good. In the beginning, as more characters are introduced to the plot, I had no idea who the killer was. I still managed to figure out who it was before the end though, the clues are all there. Still, the end brings all the loose ends together. I really liked Harper, she's a tough character with a hot temper and she struggles to deal with her gift and the things she sees. I also liked the chemistry between her and Tolliver, because even though they are almost like brother and sister, Harper's feelings are not that pure and it's difficult to see if Tolliver feels the same or not. Definitely, recommend this graphic novel to the fans of Charlaine Harris and of the supernatural genre. Can't wait for the third volume! Thank you NetGalley, the publisher Dynamite Entertainment, and the author for allowing me to read and review a digital copy of this book.

My Rating: 4 Stars 173 pages of pure delight! Nightmare Before Christmas is my all-time favourite Christmas/Halloween movie and reading this manga really brought back memories. I think Ms Jun Asuka did a really good work in drawing the emotions of the characters, especially Sally. It brought up details of the story and I had forgotten with new emotions and it's impossible for a fan of the movie to miss this manga! The perfect addition to any NBC fan and the perfect read for a quiet winter's evening on the couch! Thank you NetGalley, the publisher Tokyopop, and the author for allowing me to read and review a digital copy of this book. My Rating: 5 Stars A surprise ending, full of action and unexpected events. A fantastic ending! When I thought the story couldn't get any better, this issue happened. Maika finally gets some answers about her past even though they are like pieces of a puzzle that isn't completely revealed yet. At the same time, she gets to know the demon living within her and gives the reader the change to understand it and the reason for his awakening. I think I will buy this in paper version when it comes out and I can't wait for the next volume! Thank you NetGalley, the publisher Image, and the author for allowing me to read and review a digital copy of this book. My Rating: 5 Stars Maika's journey to self-discovery and remembrance of the past continuous. I'm very curious to know where the story is going. This 5th part has less action but it keeps the reader interested with the level of suspense. A new character is introduced, a member of the Dusk Court and it only added more problems to the desperate Maika. How is the Court connected to the plot? Plus, Mother Superior is very scary and dangerous, I'm curious when she will be unmasked. I think the artwork in the beginning when Maika is remembering is much darker and it matches the strong scene. But, the artwork is beautiful as ever! Thank you NetGalley, the publisher Image, and the author for allowing me to read and review a digital copy of this book. My Rating: 5 Stars Things are getting interesting for Maika that doesn't have a moment of peace. I can't put this comic down! The monster appears more in the issue and also other secondary characters like Aku, the Monkey King. I really liked when there are different perspectives from the different characters. I tend to get lost a bit when the change happens, and in the comic, I don't have that problem. The plot is easy to follow. Marjorie did a wonderful job in the creation of this world and the complex, range-filled Maika. Thank you NetGalley, the publisher Image, and the author for allowing me to read and review a digital copy of this book. My Rating: 5 Stars Another great part with more details and other character perspectives. I'm very happy to finally be able to see the deadly demon that lives in Maika and the terrible and uncontrollable power that she has locked inside her. It's truly scary and I admire her for her coldness towards the rising problem. The artwork is beautiful (I will writing this comment on all the issues because it's worth mentioning every time). Thank you NetGalley, the publisher Image, and the author for allowing me to read and review a digital copy of this book. My Rating: 5 Stars Absolutely amazing! A lot more dense part comparing with the first one, it's packed with information. The artwork is just perfect and it really pulls me into the story. I got to know secondary characters better and the plot becomes more complicated than what I anticipated. I can't guess what comes next. Thank you NetGalley, the publisher Image, and the author for allowing me to read and review a digital copy of this book. My Rating: 5 Stars A beautiful first issue of Monstress. I wasn't expecting it to be so gory, violent and bloody but I actually enjoyed it very much and I'm can't wait for the next issues of Marjorie M. Liu. The first thing that made me choose this comic was the cover. Sana Takeda is an extraordinary artist and the artwork of this issue is just mesmerising and made a big impact for the rest of the story. I adored the colour and the oriental influences and the steampunk-like of the landscape. In this universe, after a great war, the world is ruled by humans that dominate monsters. On the contrary of the story lines that I found so far in this types of genre, which is refreshing. I really liked the main character, Maika, a battled monster-human creature seeking revenge, cursed by a monster that she doesn't understand. It's a bit disturbing, but completely worth it! Thank you NetGalley, the publisher Image Comics, and the author for allowing me to read and review a digital copy of this book. My Rating: 4 Stars This book compliments perfectly the TV series and gives great insight into what happens behind the scenes of the series. It shows perfectly the brilliant creative mind Guillermo del Toro and the originality of the concept. Plus, the art is absolutely breathtaking for all the right reasons. If you are a fan of the series, I recommend that you check it out. It's a book that definitely stands-out on any collection.
