My Rating: 4 Stars When I downloaded this book I was expecting a graphic novel, a very dark one based on this title, cover and synopsis. I just got the first one wrong. It's dark, thrilling and very very twisted... and I absolutely loved it, even if in some parts I had to take a little break. This is a collection of 14 very dark tales that are mainly focused on female characters. Not only are there new stories but darker twists to some that are quite familiar. In these "fairy-tales" you will seek revenge, incest, violence and other dark themes. Definitely not the Disney tales for children. The world was all these events take place is the same, which in the end, brings together piece by piece a whole new dark reality. The descriptions and the style of writing are amazing and it really got me into the stories no matter how macabre and violent they got. I recommend this book to a mature audience! Thank you NetGalley, the publisher Prime Books, and the author for allowing me to read and review a digital copy of this book.

My Rating: 5 Stars The Devil's Evidence is a great sequel to The Devil's Detective, and just as good as the first one. It took me a while to finish this book even though I really enjoyed it because some scenes are very gruesome and sometimes I really felt for Thomas Fool. He really struggles to define the line between establishing some "justice" (whatever that is in hell) and rebelling against the imposed system that he doesn't fully understand. He questions himself and doubts his decisions and choices all the time, and it's difficult not to feel for him in his discoveries, adventures and misadventures in Hell and Heaven. The plot is just as brilliant as the first one and Unsworth brings it even further by turning his attention to Heaven, where despite being described as a place of eternal happiness and content, it reveals to have a dark side too. Definitely recommend it after the reading of "The Devil's Detective". My Rating: 4 Stars There very few things that get to me in a horror setting, but two things that take away my sleep is little children and mirrors. Even so, went I read the description and recognized the author, I knew I needed to read it no matter what. It was intense and engaging, I wasn't expecting the strong sexual content and some very strong gory scenes, but they went well with the story. I appreciated the mix of the two timelines, the present and the 16th century in England, it really gave the feeling of old evil and horrors. The story is very intense, well paced with intense events, both gory and sexual. I really liked the main character and the development of his obsession and madness along with the involvement of Manny Frazer in the evil plan of the mirror. On the other hand, the final character, for me, should have been introduced a bit earlier. It would have been more logical to me to have a finale with one of the characters I grew familiar with. I think the ending was a bit rushed and could have been described more deeply. In general, I really enjoyed the book and I recommend it! My Rating: 4 Stars The Thrill of Repulsion was not that I was expecting at all, but by no means a bad experience. It's the type of book that motivated me to research and go in-depth into horror. Everything is in this book, very well organised in different areas. The best part is the recommendations of readings, things to listen to and to watch. It's a great reference book for old fashion horror fans. Thank you NetGalley, the publisher Schiffer, and the author for allowing me to read and review a digital copy of this book. My Rating: 5 Stars This was my first reading a novel by Lisa Unger and it was very difficult to put down! This page-turning thrilling with paranormal elements will keep the reader clued to its pages! After I read it I found out that this was, in fact, the third book of the collection, but the reader can go through it has a standalone. There are no words to describe how much I liked Finley as the main character. She is completely out-of-the-box, a smart woman, tattooed and with psychic powers that use them to solve murders. What is there not to like? The touch of psychic abilities and visions makes it different and more interesting than usual. Beyond the thriller and the paranormal, there is also the emotional part of the novel that will bring tears to the eyes of the reader for sure. Some of the places described in the book gave the creeps plus the bodies and some very crazy people! The story is very easy to follow without getting lost and the language is just perfect. The twists will keep the reader guessing! A great thriller that I highly recommend! Thank you NetGalley, the publisher Touchstone, and the author for allowing me to read and review a digital copy of this book. My Rating: 5 Stars Little killers A-Z by Howard Odentz is an anthology that brings together 26 horror stories all involving children. It's organised by A to Z with the names of the main characters of the stories. If you have the impression that this book doesn't look that scary, remember not to judge a book by its cover! These children are not the type you want to encounter anytime soon. The reader is in for a surprise with this book, travelling through the worst kind of bad people in the stories, from murderers, stalkers, serial killers and list goes on and on. I've seen my share of horror movies and read my share of horror books, but nothing gets to me more than involving creepy children or evil twins in the picture. Some of the stories here made my skin crawl which, in a strange way, is a good thing. I absolutely loved this book and there isn't a story not to like. Each one is different and Odentz takes the reader through a tunnel of horror that only gets wider and more creepy as you advance in the horror alphabet. Definitely, it deserves the 5 stars and I highly recommend it to the lovers of the Horror genre. My Rating: 5 Stars Something Wicked This Way Comes was the third novel I read from Ray Bradbury and I absolutely love his style of writing. He is amazingly creative and knows perfectly how to put it on paper. This fantasy novel is about the arrival of a mysterious and dark festival at the small Green Town. The story happens around the two main characters, the 13 years old William Halloway and Jim Nightshade, as they explore the carnival and discover something more sinister is afoot. Mr Dark, the owner of the carnival, is not about to let two children ruin everything. The first thing I enjoyed about this book is the detailed description. I usually find long descriptions tedious but Bradbury got me even more into the story with the first detailed descriptions of the set-up of the carnival. I got the feeling that in the beginning the carnival would be full of light and have this funny feeling about it but I got it wrong. As the carnival grows, Bradbury describes a dark and sinister atmosphere that will stay that way for the whole story. I can see a perfect picture of the carnival in my head with all the details given. The second thing I enjoyed about this book were the lessons. How we should appreciate what we have and not live in the past (Charles Halloway, Jim's father, that wants to be young again), friendship and the unstoppable loyalty between family and friends when things get tough. Jim and Will's strong bond and their need to protect each other is the weapon to fight off Mr Dark along with Will's father that reveals himself to be crucial in the face of danger. Let's not forget also Mr Halloway that faces his hollow desires and stands against Mr Dark. All together they find the secret to defeating Mr Dark and his sinister carnival. Absolutely loved it and highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in Dark Fantasy. My Rating: 5 Stars Absolutely addictive. This is a page-turned historical thriller and definitely, couldn't put it down from the very beginning. Luke Garcias' style of writing, the high-levelled suspense will keep you in your seat unable to put the book down, leaving you to wonder what will happen next. For the first time in a long time, I had to stop myself from reading it in one seating because it was too good to finish in one go. Absolutely loved the strong female characters and the details of the several historical events and places. Gracias took me on a journey across the world and in an amazing adventure. This book will definitely make you shiver and leave your pulse racing! My Rating: 4 Stars This book compliments perfectly the TV series and gives great insight into what happens behind the scenes of the series. It shows perfectly the brilliant creative mind Guillermo del Toro and the originality of the concept. Plus, the art is absolutely breathtaking for all the right reasons. If you are a fan of the series, I recommend that you check it out. It's a book that definitely stands-out on any collection. I'm an absolute fan of the Sherlock Holmes stories and so when I saw this title I was a bit redundant to read it. I had no idea what was waiting for me but I decided to take a chance. And it was a correct one to make! Sherlock Holmes and the Servants of Hell, I'm quite pleased to say is definitely worth reading, with a style of writing that brings one hell of an adventure! Holmes isn't the same person after defeating his archenemy, Professor Moriarty. Cases aren't challenging or intriguing anymore and Holmes is in an unpleasant and irritable mood. Dr Watson is concerned, especially considering the recurrent use of drugs of his dear friend when finding in a state of boredom. Then a missing person case comes in. A man went inside his attic room, locked the door on in inside, and disappeared. As Holmes and Watson take the case, another missing person case occurs exactly in exactly the same pattern. Are the cases connected? How so? While investigating these two cases, Holmes and Watson discover a secret society that indulges carnal pleasures and hides a mysterious box. How is it all related? Kane connects perfectly the original Sherlock Holmes stories showing a deep knowledge and understanding of the complex character that is Sherlock Holmes, providing the perspectives of both Watson and Holmes. Furthermore, the book is writing in the style of Arthur Conan Doyle, and I must say he would be proud! Thrilling story, a very good book!
